Merging Art and Mental Health

Art in Action
Ever wonder what it would be like if Little Red Riding Hood had AD/HD? The students of Afro Centric in Minneapolis are finding out. As part of MACMH’s Continuum of Mental Health program, teaching artist Matt Jenson is working with the students to write and stage a very unique adaptation of this well-known fairy tale titled, “The Better to Distract You With, My Dear.” The cast will then take their show on the road to other elemetary schools that are participating in the Continuum Program.

To find out more about MACMH’s Continuum Program, call 651-644-7333.

13th Annual Poster Contest
It's not too late to enter MACMH's 13th annual Children's Mental Health Poster Contest and request a free Classroom Activities book. The purpose of this contest is to help kids in grades 4-8 develop healthy strategies to deal with their own emotions and to learn how to better understand the emotions of others. The Classroom Activities book also has several lessons that focus on developing empathy for those who may have mental health problems.

To order your free Classroom Activity book, just send us an e-mail us and be sure to put "Classroom Activity Book" in the subject line. To learn more about the contest, download the entry packet.
