ADHD: Misdiagnosed; Misunderstood; and
Mistreated (Untangling ADD & LD)
We know that if a child has ADD, their chance of also having a learning disorder is dramatically increased. We also know that a child with a learning disorder has an increased probably of having ADD. So what happens when a child has both? Usually a mess--problems which tend to interact yet blend together. Effective intervention depends on teasing the two apart and treating each. Citing new research, this workshop will update participants on both the diagnosis and treatment for ADD, especially when learning disorders are also present. Specific teacher / classroom strategies will be discussed.
